The Hike and The Camp

Hey!  Thanks for checking out the site!  For those168738_569483413977_7258774_n-1 of you that don’t know me, my name is Matt O’Mara and starting on March 26th 2013 I’ll be hiking the Appalachian Trail from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine.  That’s about 2200 miles over the course of about 6 months.  This is something that I’ve wanted to do for as long as I can remember.  For me this trip is an opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream.  It is also an opportunity to do something good for people who need it.  With that in mind I’m going to dedicate this trip to Camp Pa Qua Tuck located in Moriches New York.  Camp Pa Qua Tuck is a non-profit summer camp specifically for physically and developmentally disabled youth and young adults.  The camp operates completely by private donations from individuals and organizations.  I’m asking you to sponsor me in whatever way you can, whether it’s through a donation to the camp or simply by spreading the word.  100% of the money donated through this page will go directly to Camp Pa Qua Tuck to help pay for things like life vests, row boats, and musical instruments.  To make a donation go to the “Donate” page and click on the “Lets Hike to Camp” button that appears.

I’ll be updating the “Blog” section of this site periodically when I get access to the internet.
